KaomojiX is a free English kaomoji library run by the KaomojiX editorial team. We collect Japanese-style text faces such as (◕‿◕) and ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, sort them by emotion and type, explain what each face means and let you copy any of them with one tap.

What KaomojiX does
A kaomoji (顔文字, from kao “face” and moji “character”) is a face drawn with text characters that you read upright, not sideways like the Western :-). KaomojiX exists for one job: helping you find the right text face for a chat, a caption or a username, and paste it without hunting through endless unsorted lists.
- Browse by feeling or type: happy, sad, love, shrug, animals, decorations and more.
- Copy in one tap: every face is real, selectable text. We do not use images, so what you copy is exactly what you see.
- Meaning and context: wherever we can, we add a short note on what a face expresses and when it fits.
- Your device, your list: faces you save and the colour theme you choose are kept in your own browser, not on an account.
Who runs KaomojiX
KaomojiX is published by the KaomojiX editorial team, a small team that curates and maintains the library. We do not present invented authors, photos or credentials. Content on this site is signed by the team as a whole.
How we curate and check kaomoji
- Collect: faces come from widely shared kaomoji conventions, from our own pool of text-face combinations and from suggestions sent in by visitors.
- Sort: each face is placed under the emotion or type a reader would look for first. Near-duplicates are merged, and invisible or broken entries are removed.
- Keep every character intact: we copy faces byte for byte. We never “clean up” combining marks or swap special characters for plain ones, because that is what breaks a face.
- Check rendering: kaomoji mix characters from many Unicode scripts (Japanese katakana such as ツ, Cyrillic such as Д, Thai such as ๑ and many symbols), so a few faces can look different on older devices. If a face shows empty boxes on your device, try pasting it into the app you plan to use. Most apps carry wider font support than a browser preview.
- Update: pages show when they were last updated. We revise them when we add faces or fix errors.
Sources we rely on
Background information on kaomoji, emoticons and emoji is checked against public references such as the Unicode Consortium’s character data and encyclopaedic articles on kaomoji. Kaomoji themselves are built from public Unicode characters. No one owns a text face, and we do not claim to.
