Smug vs smirk vs Lenny face
A smug kaomoji shows calm self-satisfaction: half-closed eyes (￣ or ¬) and a wide flat mouth (ー or ‿). A smirk adds a one-sided or sly look, often with ≖ or ⇀ eyes. The Lenny face ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) uses combining marks to draw raised eyebrows and a crooked mouth and usually signals innuendo rather than pride. In Japanese chat a smug grin is written ﾆﾔﾘ (niyari), the sound word for a sly smile, which is why some faces above end with it.

Do smug kaomoji work on iPhone, Android and Discord?
We have not published a per-device test table for these faces yet, so we do not claim how each one renders on iPhone, Android, Windows or Discord. Faces built from common symbols such as ￣ ー ‿ ¬ usually display on current phones. Lenny faces use combining marks ( ͡ ͜ ) that some fonts stack differently, so the eyebrows may shift. Copy a face and paste it where you plan to use it to check.
